An activist has moved to court seeking to compel the DPP to return an award he received because he is not an independent office.

The DPP got the excellence award from the the Financial Management Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Capital Market Authority contrary to the provisions of the law.

He received the award for bieng the most improved Public Institution on Financial Reporting

However, Fredrick Bikeri argues that the DPP is not an independent office and should not have received that award and should hence return it.

Bikeri through lawyer Danstan Omari and Shadrack insists that Noordin Haji has already received an award of excellence from the Financial Management Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Capital Market Authority contrary to the provisions of the law.

Bikeri also wants the DPP to remove a picture of him where he is seen recieving the award from his twitter handle

The petitioners also wants the DPP to remove from his twitter handler the said award as it depicts the office as an independent office.

Bikeri further wants the national Treasury not to directly send funds to the office of the DPP noting that only the office of the Controller of Budget and the Auditor General are independent offices.

Anthony Murima Certified the matter as urgent and directed the matter be heard on10th May 2022.

The Activist also wants the DPP restrained from advertising recruitment of staff who include state counsels , as the same is a preserve for Public Service commission .

He says that the only known independent institution under the constitution are the Controller of Budget and Auditor General.
