Woman charged with causing drama at NCBA Bank over Euro exchange rate.

Ann Mutave Kioko At Milimani law courts Nairobi

A 34 year old woman Ann Mutave Kioko was today arraigned in Court for causing a scene in a banking hall after she found different rates for Euros that she wanted to get in exchange for Kenyan Money.

According to Court document,Mutave went to the NCBA banking hall in Upper hill branch.

She went to the bank intending to withdraw Euros from her dollar Account when the staff members gave her a rate that she didn’t like which seemed to enraged her.

She wanted to withdraw 200 Euros and asked if she could get them in Kenyan shillings and requested for rates which she was told was a rate of Euro1 to 116kshs but she demanded they exchange the Euros at a counter rate of Kshs 125.However the teller told her
it was not possible.

She is alleged to have referred to the bank staff as “Stupid ,Idiot and thieves “.

However, an enraged Mutave whom the bank officials claim appeared to be drank, insisted that she could not take anything lower than Kshs 125 for 1Euro .

It was while at the Counter that she was bieng attended to that she started shouting at the bank staff referring to them as idiots.

Mutave appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Micheni where she was accused of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to the cording to the law at National Bank.

According to the prosecution, on April 19, 2022, Miss Kioko walked to the said bank to initiate the transactions She ended up shouting at the staff members insulting them and hurling unprintables.

Appearing before Magistrate Micheni Wendy of Milimani Law courts, the accused denied particulars of the charge.

She was was released on a reasonable cash bail of Ksh 5,000.some of Ksh 5,000.some transactions.

The Court however directed the bank and Mutave to reach an Out _of _Court settlement.
