A Ugandan national detained for human trafficking.

Mirriam Kabangire who appeared before  Milimani Law Courts chief magistrate pleaded not guilty to trafficking persons.


According to court documents the suspect is charged that on 6th march 2019 in waves guest wing hotel along river road Nairobi jointly with others not before court harboured or receive one Kenyan and five Ugandans for the purpose or exploitation by means of deception .


Facts of the charge are that on the 6th day of march 2019 officers from transnational organized crime unit acting on a tip off raided the guest house,and during the search they rescued 5 ugandan male adults and one Kenyan female.


The accused is alleged to  had promised them jobs in Dubai and was preparing their travel documents. 


Confirmed reports are that victims had been held at wing guest house for two weeks and the accused had deceived them that the visas were being prepared.


During the search the officers recovered  tickets from Air Arabia though the suspects said the owners of the tickets had already travelled.
The suspect was arrested and taken to muthaiga police station where she complained that she was unwell.


According to prosecution the suspect is suffering from a highly contagious disease which led to the officers handling the case to undergo immunization against  it.
The suspect will appear in court on 28th March for further hearing of the case.
