A city fraudster who conned a businessman living in the United States of America has been charged in Milimani Magistrates Court.Stephen Mbugua appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi where he was charged with obtaining over USD 162, 000 or equivalent of Kshs 16Million from Joseph Kibuchi.
According to court documents on 1st October,2017 at Karen,Nairobi County with intent to defraud he obtained Kshs 16Million by pretending that he was in a position to sell him a half an acre plot, a fact he knew to be false.Mbugua denied the charges and was freed on a bond of 2 million with a surety or pay a Cashbail of 1milion.
The case will be heard on 7 th May ,2019.Cases of land fraud have been on the rise lately, with Kenyans living in the Diaspora falling prey to smooth talking conmen who promise heaven but deliver hot air.
